DEAR SONY

DEAR SONY, I know that you are nervous over the recent hacking of your company's system and that there have been threats made towards the company and towards movie theaters that would dear to show "The Interview", but I really wanted to see this movie and from what I've read you have pulled it's release.  I have a wonderful suggestion that would help you out and cheer up the public, why not just leak the movie to the internet for all to see. You would not be releasing it so to speak and who so ever wants to see it can view it free of charge and write reviews about it so that the MORONS who don't know what COMEDY is can see that this movie will not all of a sudden make the public go "Yeah I think we should do that." But this is only the suggestion of one person who is a fan of both Seth Rogen and James Franco. I hope you come up with something good, since it would a waste of millions of dollars for your company to just lock the movie up somewhere. ...

THE RECEPTIONIST RELEASE

Hi All, So it's been a great time for me. I've been hard at work trying to publish my two latest works and I've recently released one of them and I wanted to tell you all about it. "The Receptionist" is now available at Smashwords.com. I am totally in love with this story because it's the first time I am trying my hand at something that might fit an older audience, even though it is intended for teens to adults. I really like the character in her because throughout most of the story she doesn't have a name and you don't get to learn it until way later in the story. I was thinking that people could just imagine the receptionist that they know and picture her in this character's place. The thought of finding your dream job only for it to turn out to be a nightmare and then to have it get even worse when someone you don't want to take interest in you does, is what pushes the story. I really hope you all love it and if not love, I at least...

NEW PROJECT IN MIND-NaNoWriMo

Hey People, So November is right around the corner and as you may or may not know that's NaNoWriMo is a month away. I have been thinking of starting a new project which would be the fifth installment of my series The Adventures of Marco and Carla . Here is the kicker, I have two other projects on my plate that I still have to finish and have published by the end of the year, and two other projects that I had started and never finished. The projects that i started and never finished, I've decided to revisit and attempt to finish them up, but I really want to write the fifth book to my series. It's been over a year since I've published anything regarding the series and I want to keep the ideas that I have fresh and start the whole writing process.  But here is the thing if I start this new project then the other projects I will would suffer and be placed on the back burner once again. I am so eager to do all this writing, but at the same time I feel that I won...

REVISITING OLD PROJECTS

Greetings All, So I've been thinking of what should get done first regarding my books and stories and have been revisiting alot of my projects that have fallen to the way side. I started on the edits for The Receptionist and so far so go. I am hoping to have it done by the end of the year, like I said in my previous article. I am really happy with it so far, since a lot of people that have read the rough version of it really liked and wanted to know what happend to the characters involved in this piece. Happily I will say that this piece of work is more towards the teen and the adult reading group, because of some of the content. I am trying to be dual minded as far as writing things for kids and writing for adults also. Even though I love writing for children, I don't want to close myself off as a writer, so I am exploring as far as writing other things. So, I have about four to five projects on hand for you all to read and hopefully I can upload a sample of one...

It's Been A While

So it's been a while since I've last written anything, or given any updates as far as my latest books and short stories are concerned. Well here is the latest, I have finished both The Receptionist and Altered: Genesis. They were both scheduled to be released in late August, but due to some setbacks both projects were finished late and there are still no illustrations for either story. I am hoping to have both of them illustrated and published before the end of the year. Also, I've started to write the 5th book for the Adventures of Marco and Carla series. I have a working title and so far the story is coming together and I hope to have most of the also done by the end of the year. But for now please continue to visit my blog. I will start updating it regularly and also please visit my new website  Shamara Davis Books  . Please continue to support me by buying a copy of any of my books or reading any of my free books which are available on Smashwords.com

Volcano Erupts in Japan

So if you haven't heard Mount Ontake erupted in Japan on September 28th, without warning sending volcanic ash into the sky.  More than 30 hikers were fear dead, but were found unconscious, suffering from cardiac and respiratory arrest. Happily everyone survived. My prayers and heart goes out to those in my second favorite country in the world. Stay strong Japan.

HAPPY 450TH BIRTHDAY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

If you didn't already know English lovers everywhere have been celebrating the birthday of one of history's best play writes Sir William Shakespeare. Shakespeare has brought us many wonderful and tragic plays such as, Othello, Macbeth, A Midsummer Nights Dream, and Hamlet. I can say for one that I love his work and find that I draw upon them sometimes in my writing and even my teaching to show how his work is still relevant. I use it in my teaching to demonstrate that all the issues that we face today are issues that Shakespeare wrote about long before anyone. So in honor of his birthday why not pick up one of his books and read to your hearts content.

Book Update

So yesterday I finally finished typing up book one of my new sci-fi-distopia novella. It has been sitting around since June 2013 waiting to be typed up, but everything (school, job, life) got in the way. But happily I did that yesterday and now I am headed into editing and see if everything I've done so far works. Also on a happy note, I will be handing off a copy to a good friend of mine graphic designer and Illustrator Ian WIllis. Ian and I will be collaborating on possible putting some illustrations in my latest work and working on future projects together. Hopefully I will have a concept to show you of the book cover for my new book and also the title. I really didn't say anything about it because I don't know if I want to keep the title, since I was in Barnes and Nobles sometime ago and found a book there with the exact same title. SO, I am thinking I might ad something to it so that at least it's somewhat different. Well if you would like to view more of ...

RANDOM THOUGHT

Hey everyone, So I had a random thought while in bed. Thought: At any time do you feel like you are losing yourself? Well, I think I've been feeling that way for the past couple of weeks. I've been so unmotivated and I find it such a pain to even move to get things I need to be done. I've been sitting on my book for the past couple months and I've started typing what I have up so I can hand it off to the illustrator so that he can start on pulling the graphics together, but I just keep typing some and saying that I will get back to it when I have time... As a writer, I feel that this feeling, this whatever it is, could be the total death of my writing. I usually have a bunch of ideas swarming around in my head, ready to be put on paper, but lately, that's not happening for me. I want to know if anyone else has had this feeling? I am hoping that this is just a thing right now so that I can get back on my game. I haven't really written anything as far as ...

COLLABORATION IN THE WORKS

So on Saturday I took my son to a birthday party for my friend's daughter and happened to bring one of my books, What Happened to Kerbie Walobee? which I gave to my friend's wife as a gift. After leaving the party and coming home my friend text me a few hours later to tell me that he was reading the book and he was interested in collaborating on a book with me...He's an illustrator by the way and I can't wait to work with him. I think putting some artwork in your books bring it to life for your readers, if you're writing for children and also have a want to illustrate your work. They are able to see the image of the character that you've thought of; even though I think you should totally put the character a couple pages back so that they can build their own image and then let them see if what they thought of looks like what the artist drew. Here is some of Ian Willis's work: (All rights to these pictures belong to the artist).... Ian has a degree in ...

GEMMA'S HAPPY VALENTINE'S

I'm setting here in the laundry and this whole scene just popped into my head so I thought I would share it with you. It kind of makes me feel bad since it reminds me of a title I have yet to finish, but will happily get to it when I am inspired again. It's really hard since all I have to write is the end, but at the same time the ending can also make or break your story..but either way I hope you enjoy my little piece inspired also by the upcoming Valentine's Day. GEMMA' S HAPPY VALENTINE'S "I'm not going anywhere with you," she told him sternly, "you think because you bring me some cheap roses and an apology everything is okay?" "I don't know how many times I can say I'm sorry." He said to her with insincere tears in his eyes. " I really don't know what happened sweetie, one minute were talking and the next thing I remember is you standing at the door screaming as I woke up." " listen Troy, I w...
