IT'S BEEN A WHILE

Hey all it's ME!!! Well it sure has been a while since I posted anything here, and I wanted to come by and give and update on what is going on around me, with me, and for me. Life is so a big ball of stress, but you have to push through it and smile or else you will totally drown. So let's first start off with what's going on around me. Well most of you know that I live in New York and last week was a total mess with traffic and all since the Pope was in town. There were a lot of people out there showing love to the Pope for his visit to the United States. I only got to see him on TV, because I wasn't going to go out there  plus, I like my sanity. Getting through any cowards in New York will drive you totally crazy. But it's great to see so many people show their faith, since so much of us really don't.  Whatelse??? Well unless you are one of the mold people or living in a cave you totally saw the Super Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse. It was amazing! I spe...

EXCITING NEWS LADIES AND GENTS ALTERED GENESIS WAS OFFICIALLY RELEASED TODAY AND IS NOW ON SALE!!!

REVISITING OLD PROJECTS

Greetings All, So I've been thinking of what should get done first regarding my books and stories and have been revisiting alot of my projects that have fallen to the way side. I started on the edits for The Receptionist and so far so go. I am hoping to have it done by the end of the year, like I said in my previous article. I am really happy with it so far, since a lot of people that have read the rough version of it really liked and wanted to know what happend to the characters involved in this piece. Happily I will say that this piece of work is more towards the teen and the adult reading group, because of some of the content. I am trying to be dual minded as far as writing things for kids and writing for adults also. Even though I love writing for children, I don't want to close myself off as a writer, so I am exploring as far as writing other things. So, I have about four to five projects on hand for you all to read and hopefully I can upload a sample of one...

It's Been A While

So it's been a while since I've last written anything, or given any updates as far as my latest books and short stories are concerned. Well here is the latest, I have finished both The Receptionist and Altered: Genesis. They were both scheduled to be released in late August, but due to some setbacks both projects were finished late and there are still no illustrations for either story. I am hoping to have both of them illustrated and published before the end of the year. Also, I've started to write the 5th book for the Adventures of Marco and Carla series. I have a working title and so far the story is coming together and I hope to have most of the also done by the end of the year. But for now please continue to visit my blog. I will start updating it regularly and also please visit my new website  Shamara Davis Books  . Please continue to support me by buying a copy of any of my books or reading any of my free books which are available on Smashwords.com

RANDOM THOUGHT

Hey everyone, So I had a random thought while in bed. Thought: At any time do you feel like you are losing yourself? Well, I think I've been feeling that way for the past couple of weeks. I've been so unmotivated and I find it such a pain to even move to get things I need to be done. I've been sitting on my book for the past couple months and I've started typing what I have up so I can hand it off to the illustrator so that he can start on pulling the graphics together, but I just keep typing some and saying that I will get back to it when I have time... As a writer, I feel that this feeling, this whatever it is, could be the total death of my writing. I usually have a bunch of ideas swarming around in my head, ready to be put on paper, but lately, that's not happening for me. I want to know if anyone else has had this feeling? I am hoping that this is just a thing right now so that I can get back on my game. I haven't really written anything as far as ...

COLLABORATION IN THE WORKS

So on Saturday I took my son to a birthday party for my friend's daughter and happened to bring one of my books, What Happened to Kerbie Walobee? which I gave to my friend's wife as a gift. After leaving the party and coming home my friend text me a few hours later to tell me that he was reading the book and he was interested in collaborating on a book with me...He's an illustrator by the way and I can't wait to work with him. I think putting some artwork in your books bring it to life for your readers, if you're writing for children and also have a want to illustrate your work. They are able to see the image of the character that you've thought of; even though I think you should totally put the character a couple pages back so that they can build their own image and then let them see if what they thought of looks like what the artist drew. Here is some of Ian Willis's work: (All rights to these pictures belong to the artist).... Ian has a degree in ...

GEMMA'S HAPPY VALENTINE'S

I'm setting here in the laundry and this whole scene just popped into my head so I thought I would share it with you. It kind of makes me feel bad since it reminds me of a title I have yet to finish, but will happily get to it when I am inspired again. It's really hard since all I have to write is the end, but at the same time the ending can also make or break your story..but either way I hope you enjoy my little piece inspired also by the upcoming Valentine's Day. GEMMA' S HAPPY VALENTINE'S "I'm not going anywhere with you," she told him sternly, "you think because you bring me some cheap roses and an apology everything is okay?" "I don't know how many times I can say I'm sorry." He said to her with insincere tears in his eyes. " I really don't know what happened sweetie, one minute were talking and the next thing I remember is you standing at the door screaming as I woke up." " listen Troy, I w...

FINALLY ALMOST FINISHED-RANT

Jamaica 2008 I am FREAKING excited....only today and tomorrow left to get through and I am finally finished with graduate school. This process has been such a long one for me. After getting laid off from my 2nd placed dream job( I worked at 4Kids, so free toy swag I miss you) it was time to get that 1st place dream job and since I enrolled in grad school in 2009 it's been nothing but a process. Getting into school, finding money to pay for it, getting accepted into the education program, taking a two semester break because I had a baby and almost paid for it with my life due to MORON MALE doctors (thanks to get Great female doctor who like totally saved me. Blood clots KILL),  and now finally finally I am at the finish line. I really can't wait to be a teacher, but I have two weeks off before school here in New York is back in session. So for the next two weeks I will be working on all the book/stories that I've started and haven't finished. Hopefully 2014 will s...

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING-BOOKS & eBOOKS

So Christmas is almost upon us once again and you're thinking of gifts. Why not give that person you're thinking of some eBooks. Here are a couple of suggestions: This is my latest books Practically Fiction . My first and only anthology at the moment. This books features ten short stories that I've written and have put out there individually, but to save time and effort I've place them all in one book What Happened to Kerbie Walobee? was released earlier this year.  It's a great books for preteens and young adults. Moving into a new town can bring all kinds of new adventures but sometimes those new things can get you into a lot of trouble. Another great books is from bestseller Rick Riordan: The House of Hades . If you're children are fans of Percy Jackson then they will love Riordan's latest book because I know I do. The book takes up where his previous work left off. Percy and Annabell are trapped in Tarterus and it's up to t...

UPDATE FROM LA LUNA and New RUSTY FISCHER BOOK

Hi Readers, I just wanted to give you a quick  update...As you can see the sight hasn't been really updated as much as I use to update it, that's because I have been student teaching. For those that don't know what student teaching is, that is when they give you the student a chance to get in front of a class and teach whatever grade level you are getting your degree in for 1/2 a semester of full semester and gain the experience you need to become a teacher.  So far I have finished 1/2 of my student teaching and I am currently on my second half here at a high school in Brooklyn, NY. I must say that I had a great experience with the students at BECS which is the Junior High I started at. I learned a lot about myself there as a teacher and I will never forget it or them. But anyway back to the site. I am hoping to at least update the site every two days or so with new books for you to check out and to let you know about any new book releases from me (Shamara Da...

NEW SHORT STORY: BURDENED

Make sure to check out my new hot short story BURDENED  FREE on Smashwords.com When I saw short it really is. Short description Emily is tired of it all. Feeling dejected she decides to commit the ultimate sin. Can the Doc save her from herself or will it be too late? Reviews Review by: Rori O'Keeffe on July 26, 2013 : It is a story that hurtles to a crushing finale - as memorable a short piece as I am likely to read. Review by: Steph Anne on July 26, 2013 : From the first sentence you are thrust directly in the middle of a tense, pain filled scene. You think, wait? Did I miss a page? What's going on? I kept reading because the raw emotion of the dialogue grabs you and won't let go. By the end, that comes quickly, you understand. Worth the read.
